NEW DELHI: This is with reference to Kuldip Nayar’s article of November 21 titled “Muslims and the US”. The writer’s words would have carried far more weight had he expressed a similar kind of outrage at what China is doing to Pakistan, making it more or less a vassal state. I am also very angry at the treatment meted out to the former Indian president but the US government has unconditionally apologised to him as well as the government of India. Should President Obama resign over the issue? All I can say is that trying to unite South Asia under an umbrella of anti-Americanism is no longer sustainable. In today’s world, we need the Americans more than they need us, particularly when the Chinese are flexing their muscles in Asia.
