Blast injures two in Dera Murad Jamali

Police said unknown persons had attached an explosive device to a motorbike in the Bakra Mandi area.

QUETTA: A woman and a teenage boy were injured in a remote controlled blast aimed at a police patrol near the Bakra Mandi area of Dera Murad Jamali on Saturday.

According to Dera Murad Jamali police, unknown persons attached an explosive device to a motorbike in the Bakra Mandi area.

The criminals detonated the device when the police vehicle passed by the motorbike. The blast injured two passers-by, a woman and a 14-year-old boy, while the police vehicle was partially damaged.

The police cordoned off the area soon after the explosion and shifted the injured to a local hospital. The injured were later identified as Nazgul and Nasir Ahmed.

“The target of the blast was a police patrol. However, the personnel escaped unhurt. The passers-by received minor injuries,” local police official Hidyatullah said.

According to the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), around one kilogram of explosive was used in the blast. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
