FAISALABAD:

Any dealer found overcharging a urea bag can get three-year imprisonment or a fine equal to the value of fertiliser stock present in the respected persons’ storage unit, according to the agriculture department.

The government has issued orders to take strict action against those found guilty of creating artificial price hike of urea – the highest selling fertiliser product, department spokesperson said on Friday.

He said that some companies had fixed the price at Rs2,000 per 50kg bag, defying the agriculture department’s notified price of Rs1,600 to 1,603 a bag.
