The protest area has been divided into four zones, with a superintendent of police given charge of a zone each.
The Insaf Student Federation (ISF), the student wing of Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), says it expects some 7,000 students from schools in the city to join its public meeting at Minar-i-Pakistan today.
Imran, whose party has been making significant inroads as a ‘street power’ but has yet to do well in elections, is being seen by observers as at least a ‘game changer’ in coming parliamentary polls, especially in Punjab’s urban areas.

I am disappointed with the Police Reforms formula of Imran Khan. Electing SHOs from masses directly with any training and selection criteria will further politicize the police department. Police department is already immensely politicized and corrupt. It is better to give them autonomy like judiciary together with establishing an accountability plan for police.
On the other hand, eliminating Patwaris will not do any good as Patwaris perform many other duties along with record keeping. Secondly, reforming Patwaris can’t eliminate corruption from the Revenue department. Thirdly, Imran gave no formula of reforming the corruption in lower judiciary and ousting those selected on political considerations by PPP.

Sounds kind of menacing and a bit MQM-ish wouldn’t you say Mr Secretary-General? We need to vet our politicians more thoroughly before voting them into power, lest they go around “eliminating” people with different opinions. I hope Arif Alvi doesn’t represent the “democratic spirit” of PTI.

The show was very impressive. Three points which I picked up: 1. Bringing back all looted money from foreign banks.. 2. Instead of SHOs there should be Sheriffs as we see in USA who are picked up from within the consent of local people of the area. 3. Throwing away the begging bowl by using our own resources. Anyhow, now sleepless nights for PML-N and good news for PPP and its supporters for putting dent in the vote bank of Sharif brothers. Yes, Mr. Imran Khan can now expect sizable voters both from Punjab and KP. I think he is backed both by the establishment and jack boots. .

Khans first week in office will go something like this 1) America’s will reaffirm their commitment to drone attacks – probably accelerating them to make a point 2) Taliban will reaffirm it will not negotiate with Pakistan until Pakistan agrees to implement Sharia and 3) military will make it clear that it doesn’t take orders from the civilian govt. It’s easy to make promises over things that you really have no control over — Khan can’t control corruption, foreign policy, international finance, the Taliban or the American’s. Be prepared to be disappointed.

For example one of his most infamous lies was… if he was not removed from power in 1999 Pakistan would have been a tiger economy.
When he was thrown out of power the foreign reserves had been depleted. His hair brained schemes like flooding the country with taxis instead of doing what governments should do like providing education and health, raising tax revenues, providing law and order and building power stations.
If we are stupid enough to vote for either him or Zardari then perhaps we deserve our fate.Recommend

To all my friends who think that Imran will divide PML-Ns vote bank and would help Zardari to stay in power is very true………BUT……This is the only way to bring a change…..What are the alternatives?….. Sahreef Bros? Mulana sahib? Zardari Sahib? JI? MQM? PML-Q? GHQ?ANP?………seriously?….come on ppl we all know they have failed. Have given multiple chances but still failed….infact they didnt even try to rectify. Now the ppl of Pakistan are looking for an alternative…enough is enough…they need a platform, which Imran khan has offered and ppl are going to use this platform. The proof lies in his rally…..no traditional ‘Karaey Kay Karkonan’…Minarey Pakistan was full of common ppl…people like you and me………Just think About it….???? He will indeed divide PML-Ns vote bank and apparently help PML-Q,MQM and PPP but thats how the transtion towards productive politics and democracy will occur. PML-N has proven to be useless repeatedly …… DO you all think that they will fix it…..NO….someone need to go first and that is how the change will evolve. We need a leadership with odometer that says..000000….and we have nobody except him and I think thats the reason he is gaining popularity. Today PPP, PML-Q and MQM are happy but once this alternate force will gain momenten the change will bring them down too…..these traditional and commercial political parties will either have to change their rules of engagement or better go home. The change will occur but will take time…for that we may have to tolerate these corrupt mercenaries for few more years….But me and millions of ppl like me have noticed a new wave…..that isn’t gona stop now. Pakistan Zindabad.

Hopefully, he’ll mature up his views when he comes to office and hopefully we can finally move towards a better future. To those who are still unconvinced about him as our next prime minister, just compare him with the other idiots out there whom we have tried and tested many times and they have failed to do anything positive for Pakistan even once. Waiting for this moment to express myself on “Express”-Tribune [after a long time]:
Though his (Imran Khan’s) word are the words of many of us, though the feelings of his (imran Khan) are the feeling of many of us. But these words and feelings are very much similar to the one we have listened from the politicians in the past elections [1988,1990,1993,1997,2002,2008], like me many of us are just waiting for the detailed plan, the step-by-step approach, the terms of coalations that PTI would have, ammedments in future foriegn policy, provicial goverment structure, economic policy, law & order approach, Pak-US/Pak-Afg/Pak-Ind relationship strategies, and many other open items.
Once we have a clear depiction of all this –> Trust me the eagerness within each of us would be enough for the you(Imran Khan) to clean sweep in the next election

Just a Caution: Don’t do the mistake that Dear Musharaf did–> beware of the seasoned politicians.

Well I agree with all the support and backing Imran Khan is getting. I also support him and for the first time in my life I will be out there to cast my vote for Imran Khan, but I am still optimistic on few things. Faces surrounding Imran Khan are not young and fresh faces, it is alarming that the people joining PTI are the ex PPP and PMLN scapegoats with no reputation. It is the responsibility of the youth who is backing up Imran Khan to keep PTI at a distance from this dirty politics of landlords and fudels to trasnform the real cause “The change” into a reality, or else it wont be any different from what the Pakistani nation is suffering from currently. I hope Imran understands the reality and bring a true transformation of change into the blood stream of the youth of this nation and if he does so Pakistan will be a different country in no time heading to prosperity and honor.

He is true believer of honesty and competitiveness in the country. Dear Sajid
Same Pakistani follows all rule regulations when they go to UAE or Bangkok or any other western country. In Pakistan people do not follow the laws because the whole systyem is corrupt. In UAE for e.g cameras take your pictures for over speeding/crossing red signals.Pakistani driver knows that if caught his licence would be cancelled.\
Honest leadership and equal rule of laws application for all citizen will bring a change in Pakistan Inshallah.Recommend
@Raja Islam:
Oh yeah my Raja, there were just girls, everywhere, every single sign of feminity of Pakistan was behind Imran Khan’s great looks…
Are you serious ? The point IS that he gathered hundreds and thousands of peoples in Nawaz Sharif’s OWN fort, Lahore, Punjab’s capital. Now, if he wins Lahore, he wins the rest of Punjab too. But you should be from Pakistan to know the electoral dynamics.
