LAHORE: Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Lahore High Court on Friday sought a reply from former chief minister Dost Mohammad Khosa for November 16 to a habeas corpus petition for his wife Sapna Khan and their daughter. At the previous hearing, the LHC had sought the assistance of a law officer on a legal question: can persons other than relatives file a case for a detainee’s recovery? The Punjab government did not file any statement on the question on Friday. Instead, the alleged detainee’s sister, Hina Khan, filed an affidavit in support of the petition. She also earlier wrote a letter to the Supreme Court chief justice seeking his help for her sister’s recovery. According to the petitioner, Sapna Khan was last seen being beaten up and then bundled into a car along with her child by friends of Dost Khosa at their GOR residence on June 22. The petitioner said a news report of the incident was published in a local daily on July 7.
