Veena Malik was on cloud nine as she has become the sponsor mother of Payal Kamble, who is seven-year-old girl living with Sahaara Charitable Society — an organisation started by a group of church members in 1994 to help trafficked women and children in India, reports sahaarasociety.org

The event was organised at Peninsula Grand Hotel in Andheri East. Malik, who was seen in two different dresses during the event, informed the media that she is extremely happy as she has done something great to serve humanity. The actor has also sponsored children in Pakistan. Malik played with kids and gave them sweets and crackers. Malik also told the media that this is the first time she is celebrating Diwali in India. According to the Malik, she lit firecrackers for the first time in her life.

During Malik’s last visit to India back in January, she informed the Indian media that she wants to be “India ki bahu”. While she was busy rehearsing for the grand finale of reality show “Bigg Boss” in January, the actor managed to reveal her fascination with Indian men.

The actor, who made headlines for her ‘close association’ with Ashmit Patel in a reality show, said, “Mujhe ab rishta chahiye. I feel Indian men are wow!”

However with her latest ‘act of philanthropy’, Malik continues to mark her territory in the world of headlines and remains popular with the media, both in India and Pakistan.

    Really ET?
    Such negative connotations aimed at generating masala, starting from the headline. Why specify a Hindu girl, why not an Indian girl for more clarity? We do have Hindus in Pakistan, y’know.
    And what is the point of mentioning her “fascination with Indian men” in a story about her sponsoring a poor child?
    Lastly, explain to me the quotation marks around the phrase: act of philanthropy. If you can’t keep your negative bias out of the paper and if editors can maintain the neutrality of reporting, then start calling this paper a tabloid.
    Did not, DO NOT, expect such slant from a paper which decisively stands up for the rights of others.

    Express tribune’s turning into quite the tabloid. The content of this article is not news-worthy, beyond the helping poor children bit.

    a very good thing to do.

    and i agree with some of the comments, why did they mention a hindu girl, she sponsored a child and it does not matter who that child is. I know people who sponsored christian kids via christian organizations for ALLAH’s blessing, Islam is very open minded and does not restrict charity for only its own followers.

    Why can’t she do such a thing in Pakistan? Sponsor a hindu, christian or whatever.. but sponsor a Pakistani for God’s sake!

    How come you can’t see the visible good over the invisible/hypothetical bad? There are many people out there who come from strong backgrounds but do nothing humanitarian and here is a woman who fends for herself (in her own way) and also does some good. Appreciate it!Recommend

    @Hareem:
    Many hospitals in India have performed complicated surgeries free-of-cost for pakistani children after they could not get similar treatment in Pakistan..Now how about you start some charity for those children..don’t be so narrow minded..humanity knows no boundaries…
