Dengue death toll reaches 235 with 5 more deaths in Lahore

In the last 24 hours, 244 new cases of dengue have been reported in Lahore.

LAHORE: As the Punjab government struggles to battle the spread of the dengue epidemic, the deadly virus has claimed five more lives in Lahore on Sunday. 

Three people have died at Mayo Hospital, while two succumbed to the fever at Ganga Ram Hospital.

At least 235 people have died of the dengue virus in Punjab, out of which 218 are from Lahore.

In the last 24 hours, 244 new cases of dengue have been reported in Lahore, while over 1,300 patients are being treated at various hospitals.

The number of patients affected from dengue in Punjab has crossed 16,000 with over 14,000 from the provincial capital.

Meanwhile on Saturday, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif announced compensation of Rs500,000 to each family of dengue victims.

shahbaz shareef in holding 8 ministeries including Health. they should give the health ministry to somebody who at least have some knowledge about health. who would be able to plan for next year dengue attack.

the picture is of a mosquito...not of the dengue mosquito.
