Four students of a seminary drowned in a stream in Lower Dir district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday.
Rescue 1122 told The Express Tribune that four students of a local seminary were bathing in a stream when they accidentally moved into the deep water and all of them drowned.
Local residents cried for help and informed Rescue 1122 about the incident which sent a team of divers to retrieve the bodies. All the four were taken out and shifted to local hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
“The incident took place in the Maidan Kambar area where the children were bathing in a local stream due to intense heat. All of them were minor children who could not swim,” said spokesperson of Rescue 1122, Bilal Faizi while talking to The Express Tribune.
In a separate incident 14 people were injured in the same district when the roof of a local seminary suddenly collapsed in Chakdara.
Local residents said that a khatam Quran ceremony was going on when the roof suddenly collapsed, injuring 14 students. The roof was in a state of disrepair.
