ISLAMABAD:

Women must raise their voices against injustices and report incidents of violence to the police without hesitation. This was said by Parveen Fatima, Station House Officer Women Police Station G-7, during an interview with APP.

She added that this will help control increasing crime rate. She added that NGOs and media should play their role in raising awareness among women, as they are reluctant to file FIRs and do not want to disclose their identities or leave homes.

The Women Police Station is committed to provide timely justice to the women, facilitating them at every step from reporting of an incident till submission of the case in the court within 14 days of investigation, in accordance with the national judicial policy, she added.

Around four to five cases are reported every week, which are usually related to violence, torture or harassment, Parveen, who took charge in February, said.

Fifty-one cases were registered at the police station between January and August. Out of these, 35 cases are still under investigation while the remaining cases have been submitted to the court for final verdict.

“We received cases related to beggars on daily basis who are big threat to the security of the city. Our squad is working round-the-clock to ensure safety of the residents,” she said. “The police station is equipped with all the facilities including a mobile van and a wireless system.
