Badminton star Mahoor Shehzad wins gold in 2019 Pakistan International Series

Beats Iranian opponent Soraya 21-15, 16-21 and 21-16 in the final to bag the three-set match 2-1

Pakistan's best badminton player Mahoor Shehzad won the gold medal in single's event of the 2019 Pakistan International Series.

Mahoor beat Iranian opponent Soraya 21-15, 16-21 and 21-16 in the final to bag the three-set match 2-1.

The badminton star took to twitter to announce her win and said: "I'm delighted to have won the only Gold medal for Paksitan in this tournament."



Earlier, while talking to The Express Tribune, Mahoor had said that she wanted to represent Pakistan in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

"My aim is to represent Pakistan in the 2020 Olympics for which I am playing International tournaments,” she explained. “To qualify for Olympics 2020, I need to come in the Top 70 players of the world.

“I have played five international tournaments in this year so far which includes tournaments in Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Bulgaria. Once I accomplish this aim, then I will look forward to reach the top 50, then top 20 and then top 10.”
