Combating electricity shortage: Transgenders give fans to patients

Patients at Civil hospital in Sukkur stay troubled by the heat and power outages.

Express July 07, 2011

SUKKUR: Transgender persons voluntarily distributed hand fans to patients admitted at Civil Hospital in Sukkur, Express News reported on Thursday.

Patients and their families were facing problems due to persistent power outages at the hospital and the ongoing heat wave.

The patients appreciated the gesture made by the transgender persons.

Fans were also distributed to hospital staff.

The electricity shortage in Sukkur and adjoining areas had earlier reached 650 megawatts, with Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) resorting to 16-hour load-shedding in rural areas and 12-hour power outages in the cities.
