Pakistani filmmaker in YouTube challenge finals

Pakistani filmmaker Faraz Siddiqui is among the 18 contestants who made it to the final round of the Democracy challenge.

Pakistani filmmaker Faraz Siddiqui is among the 18 contestants who has made it to the final round of the Democracy video challenge on YouTube.

Siddiqui's video 'Democracy is the message by people' was voted to as one of the best 18 videos.

Six winners, one from each region, will be chosen for an all-expense paid trip to Washington, New York and Hollywood to attend gala screenings of the winning videos, gain exposure to the US film and television industry and meet with creative talent, democracy advocates and government leaders.

Since its launch two years ago, more than 1,600 people from 111 countries submitted entries and spurred the online engagement of at least 1.5 million people.

People around the world can now vote for their favorite videos until midnight GMT on June 15, 2010.

Siddiqui is up against two Nepalese contestants in the South and Central Asia region. Siddiqui belongs to Karachi and also runs a graphic design company called Collage.
