Engine Failure: Protesting passengers beaten up

Enraged passengers started damaging property.

KHAIRPUR: At least three trains were stuck at Khairpur for several hours on Wednesday. When the enraged passengers started damaging property, the police was called in. They beat up the protesters and arrested over 15 of them. The engine of Allama Iqbal train, going from Sialkot to Karachi, failed near Sitharja and passengers were stranded for over six hours. Since the tracks were blocked, Farid Express going to Karachi was stopped at Khairpur station for four hours. Meanwhile, the engines of Karachi-bound Karakoram Express and Punjab-bound Farid Express developed faults at Mehrabpur.
