Nawaz demands action against Saleem Shahzad's killers

Sharif said the entire nation demands that Shahzad’s killer should be brought to justice.

ISLAMABAD: PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif demanded action against the killers of slain journalist Saleem Shahzad while addressing the media from a journalists’ sit-in protest outside the National Assembly.

According to details, journalists staged a sit-in protest outside the assembly demanding the arrest of those responsible for journalist Saleem Shahzad’s murder.

Sharif said the entire nation demands that Shahzad’s killer should be brought to justice. He further said the struggle will continue until justice is delivered.

The PML-N chief also said it is the right of the masses to know why the government is so helpless in this case.

I do not approve of his team's ideas to tackle the economic problems Pakistan has, but his stance since the OBL incident has been very mature and statesmanlike. Accountability and effectiveness of the armed forces, especially of the marine army and the ISI, is a demand of the nation now. Media has been very local on the issue post- late Saleem Shehzad's murder. Mian sahib must know that this is a fight he can not afford to lose. Too much is at stake!

grink | 12 years ago | Reply Hypocrite!! In his time his persecution of the print media journalists was excessive. For example senior journalist Najam Sethi was picked up and tortured for over 10 days. Nawaz ordered the army to court martial him (Najam Sethi) but Musharrah refused.

Why are all who matter most in Punjab are keeping mum on their findings. Yes all want real time investigation but politics must not be played on this gruesome matter.

Obsever from UK | 12 years ago | Reply I must give full credit to Mr Nawaz Sharif for his robust stand regarding military establishment. The whole world points fingers to ISI. Salim Shehzad has been very critical of ISi. His book which has been published is apparently replete with graphic description of some who were involved in supporting al Qaeda. When DG rangers and DIG police Sindh can be removed why can't Gen Kayani and Gen Pasha be removed. No one is above the law.
