SUKKUR: The Sukkur police arrested two accused, Bangul Mirbahar and Noor Hassan Mirbahar, on Wednesday, out of the nine suspects booked for forcing a child marriage.

The suspects allegedly forced Rasool Bux Mirbahar’s seven-year-old granddaughter, Naseema, to marry Bangul’s seven-year-old son, Shahzad.

Rasool went to the police three days ago to register a case against the men because he feared they would take his granddaughter away.

Bangul told The Express Tribune that elders in the village decided that Naseema would marry Shahzad to reconcile an old dispute.

Someone called the police at the ceremony and we were arrested, he said.

He claimed Rasool is taking advantage of the situation because he was not happy with the marriage.
