SYDNEY: This is with reference to Shahzad Chaudhry’s article of May 29 titled “Go get the terrorists”. The air vice-marshal’s intellectual analysis and approach to problem-solving is very encouraging. Allowing oneself to continuously remain in a defensive reactive mode gradually saps resources and erodes morale. The problem with our military establishment in the face of the attacks by the militants, is that the military seems to be behaving reactively rather than proactively.
The likes of the TTP are free to pick and choose their targets at will, while we wait and react. This is not a good situation to be in because it means that the initiative always rests with the attackers. And that is why what the writer is saying makes eminent sense.
