KARACHI: Initial investigations into the terror attack on PNS Mehran in Karachi revealed on Saturday that the terrorists attacked the navy installation in two groups, Express 24/7 reported.

One of the groups targeted P3C Orion aircraft while the other entered the flight line building. Security forces surrounded that building from three sides and an exchange of fire ensued.

According to an officer of the investigating team, one of the terrorists, who was hiding inside the building, got injured by a bullet and blew himself up, turning the building into rubble. The rubble has now been removed from the base. All necessary evidence has also been collected from the site.

Earlier, five people were taken into custody for suspected involvement in the attacks. One of the suspects was nabbed from Faisalabad while four others were caught from various areas of Karachi.

One of the arrests resulted from traced phone calls from a terrorist cell phone, recovered after the 17-hour siege at PNS Mehran Base. Sunday’s assault was the worst on a military base since the army headquarters was besieged in October 2009.

    They tell us there were about 1200 fired cases found. How many G3 fired cases were found? This will tell us how much resistance was offered by our commandos. Our forces carry G3s.Recommend

    Investigation findings report..”It has been found out that it was indeed Taliban which executed the attacks.” The brainwashed Islamic Taliban militants have already themselves claimed responsibility for the attack. So what is the point of investigation ? As long as State and Religion are not separated there is no point in investigating.Recommend

    I would like to draw atentions about the fact that taliban are saying that we are taking the revenge of osama killing.and thats why we attack PNS and will continue such type of attacks.but the PNS attack requires huge practices and spy activities.and all of these is not possible in such short interval of time that is from osama killing to PNS attack.it reveals that there are enemy agencies which have already planned all these cruel activities and they are just waiting for right time. Terrorist attacks at PAF Faisal, PNS Mehran in Karachi
    After this operation, there should be no politics on death of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for sake of country, It is the highest honour for a soldier to receive/his family receive an military award, in Pakistan we can say it {Nishan-e-Haider or Nishan-e-Hyder } the highest military decoration given by Pakistan. It is given to those who have performed acts of greatest heroism or most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger and have shown bravery of the highest order or devotion to the country, in the presence of the enemy on land. Recent Terrorists attack on PNS Mahran, our many soldiers {Naval, Rangers etc} scarified their lives to save the country’s most valuable assets. All soldiers should be equally considered and they all deserved to be the highest military award {Nishan-e-Haider or Nishan-e-Hyder}, it does not means that only one Lieutenant/Officer should be considered for the {Nishan-e-Haider or Nishan-e-Hyder}, I will say the firemen more deserve this. Because they all sacrificed their lives for sake of the country there should be no politics between deaths of soldiers (Officers/sepoyes/sailors). Recommend

    @Asadullah
    It is sad to note that there are terrorist attacks, bomb blasts every other day and a lot of Pakistanis (civilians & soldiers) are killed. Some of you keep blaming Americans for creating terrorists but whatever is the truth, at the end of the day, it is Pakistan government (including military / ISI) who have to take action against terrorists but regretfully there seems to be no concerted effort

    Your press / judiciary are pretty strong and you can explore the possibilities of filing public interest petitions directing the government / ISI / military for action. In India some of the corrupt cases (example 2G scam) are court monitored due to government inaction (politicians are involved) and may be you can insist your courts to monitor action against terrorists. CJP is a pretty straight person and perhaps you should try your chance. Best of luck guys Recommend
