Preserving pangolins

Letter February 19, 2018
Wildlife department must take prompt action in controlling smuggling of the threatened animal

HYDERABAD: According to a news report, Worldwide Fund for Nature on the day observed for the preservation of pangolins has mentioned illegal trade and smuggling as the major cause for the reduced number of the specie, that is on the verge of extinction. Many other precious animals and species too have been a major target for smugglers across the country, particularly in the province of Sindh. As pangolins are one of the most trafficked animals from Pakistan, the wildlife department must take prompt action in controlling smuggling of the threatened animal.
