Pakistan visit will improve trust: Krishna

Express May 13, 2010

NEW DEHLI: Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna on Thursday, termed his proposed visit to Pakistan  a confidence building measure and said that it will help reduce the trust deficit between the two nations.

Krishna recently accepted an invitation from Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to visit Islamabad for talks on July 15.

Relations between the two countries went into a diplomatic freeze after India blamed Pakistan-based militants for the Mumbai attacks in November 2008.

Last month, the prime ministers of both the countries held talks in Bhutan and asked their officials to take steps as soon as possible to normalise relations.

Krishna also said that the upcoming Pak-India talks promise to further improve chances of productive dialogue between the two countries.
