Education for girls

Letter March 08, 2011
It is no secret that education is hard to come by for many Pakistani women and girls.

ISLAMABAD: It is no secret that education is hard to come by for many Pakistani women and girls. Consider the fact that, according to one report, over 300 schools for girls have been destroyed by extremists in Fata alone. Then consider what happened at a girls college in Mardan recently — terrorists attacked it with hand grenades. If we want development and positive change in our country, then the widening gender gap should be filled and this can be done only by ensuring that girls enrol in higher numbers.
