Student’s death

Letter January 07, 2017
I request local channels to show some modesty and stop publicising the story

HYDERABAD: A position holder student of the University of Sindh was found dead in her room hanging from the ceiling fan. The news itself was highly disturbing, but our media knows how to further add fuel to the fire. She was photographed and videographed while hanging and even her corpse was not left alone. It was heartrending to see people uploading her pictures and videos. What kind of insensitivity is that and what does it actually prove? Is there any humanity and ethical values left? Where are our moral, ethical, and religious values lost? How disturbing would it be for her family and friends to watch her like this? They will have seen her in all her charm and glory and now they are viewing a dreadful side of her life. This incident cost another life as well; Naila’s friend died of heart failure because she became the victim of media sensation. It is a gloomy side of media that we witness suicide or murder news in a dramatised way with sensational music. I request local channels to show some modesty and stop publicising the story.
