Laced toffees: Alleged paedophile sent to jail

The suspect, however, had obtained bail before arrest from a local court

ABBOTTABAD: An alleged paedophile was sent to jail after expiry of his remand period on Monday. He was arrested from a courtroom on December 23, when the court cancelled his interim bail.

According to Mangal SHO Khalid Khan, Yasir Khan, 48, of Panda Pir Khan village, was nominated in the FIR by IK* the paternal uncle of AK* an eight-year-old who was allegedly raped by the suspect in his shop.

The SHO said that the police have registered a criminal case against the suspect under PPC Section 377 after the offense was proven in a medical examination of the victim.

The suspect, however, had obtained bail before arrest from a local court. This was cancelled by the court of an Abbottabad additional sessions judge after arguments by human rights lawyer Shabnam Nawaz, who was representing the victim.
