Exam environment

Letter December 19, 2016
I deserve this as my basic right to the education

KHAIRPUR: I am sociology masters student at Shah Abdul Latif University in Khairpur. Last year, I took the MA Part 1 exam but under terrible circumstances in the hall, despite multiple requests made to the authorities concerned. The code of conduct for examinations issued by the university was badly violated by students under the supervision of staff and other officials. Cheating was done at a high level during the exam, in which mobile phones were even allowed, causing a huge disturbance. The exam hall environment reflected one of a cafeteria. Now, the university has again issued an informational sheet for upcoming final MA examinations and has directed students not to bring mobile phones and to be punctual.

I request the vice chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and all other relevant officials, including principals, to ensure that the examination is administered in an appropriate environment and that decorum is maintained. I also request inspection teams to visit examination centres frequently during examinations. I deserve this as my basic right to the education.
