Every time he posts a selfie, Ranveer Singh’s female fans go into frenzy. And of course, the ever flamboyant actor enjoys all the attention coming his way, as much as he can. “I love female attention and I have always admitted that,” The Indian Express quoted Singh as saying recently. “I was a fat kid till about 14 years of age so female attention is golden for me.”

Having started out with a rustic, boy-next-door look in 2010’s Band Baaja Baaraat, the Bollywood heartthrob had a major turnaround with films like Gunday, Ram Leela and Dil Dhadkne Do. The 31-year-old Singh has, today, reached the status of a sex symbol in the industry. “Even when you lose weight, you are always fat in your head. For me, female attention is one of the best things ever and I love it. I love being looked upon as a sex symbol… It feels amazing,” he said.

In his seven-year acting career, Singh has played different shades of the ‘lover boy’ role, be it the street-smart Delhi boy in Band Baaja Baarat, the brooding romantic in Lootera or the fearless warrior in Bajirao Mastani. He admits to being very romantic in real life too and would go all out when in love. “I consciously nurture a significant romantic relationship, if I have one. I leave no stone un-turned in that endeavour. So, I guess that’s what makes me a good boyfriend.”

In his latest film Befikre, Singh plays a romantic hero yet again, although his character is more like him than before. “He’s a light-hearted, happy-go-lucky guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously,” revealed the star.

Directed by Aditya Chopra, Befikre aims to celebrate love in a carefree, fun filled and impulsive way. Though his character might have trouble saying “I love you,” Singh said he is far from being frivolous. “I wouldn’t call him frivolous. He is definitely good- hearted. I think his outlook on romantic relationships is something like mine from a few years ago but my outlook has changed now,” he added.

Befikre also features actor Vaani Kapoor and hits screens on December 9.
