Health hacks: 8 reasons why working out at home is better

Here are reasons why your home gym is better than going to the gym especially in the upcoming winter months

If you work out at home, the thought of germ-infested elliptical equipment and the icy winter road to your gym make your living room workout feel all the better. In fact, many people actually prefer to exercise at home, at their own leisure. Some go on as far as hiring personal trainers to come over to their place and give them proper, one on one sessions. As compiled from Beachbody.com, here are nine reasons why your home gym is better than going to the gym, especially in the upcoming winter months.

1. You never have to face the cold

All warm and cozy in your house? Good thing your gym is just 10 feet in front of you. There is literally no excuse for you to not get up and exercise now…

2. Gym schedules don’t dictate your routine

Gym closed because of a strike? Have to work late into the evening and worries about missing your 6pm Pilates class? Fret not… just spread your exercise mat and get moving on your own, when you want.

3. You don’t have to care how you look

Rocking polka dot leggings with a striped yellow t-shirt? Haven’t brushed your hair? Does it matter? Nope. You’re good to go! (Unless you’re going to take an Instagram selfie later…)

4. The germs are your own

With flu season in full swing, it’s an absolute blessing that you don’t have to worry whether the super-sweaty guy at your gym wiped down the treadmill. Instead, you get to swim in your own sweat and worry about cleaning it up later on.

5. Results and recovery are as far away as the kitchen

There’s nothing worse than when you’ve just finished an intense workout and have to wait an hour or so to down your favorite post-workout fuel. Lucky for you, whatever you enjoy as your recovery formula is a just a hop, step and skip away.

6. Make any weird grunts or faces you want

Worried about those noises you make when pushing yourself to the limit? Don’t sweat it! Go ahead, let out a triumphant yell every time you finish a superset. After all, you deserve it.

7. You can literally roll out of bed and push play

There’s no better feeling than rolling out of bed and starting your workout five minutes after you’ve woken up. This is likely to rejuvenate you for the rest of your day!

8. You can sprawl out on the floor and catch your breath

Whether it’s 25 minutes, 30 minutes, or an hour-long workout, you get to sprawl out in all your glory if you’ve done it at home. There is no need to worry about whether or not the floor is clean or who might step on you… You’re in your own personal gym.
