Shah Noorani shrine blast

Letter November 15, 2016
Pakistan was made for everyone to be able to worship freely

KARACHI: We live in a country where if you are Christian, you cannot go freely to your churches — not because it’s not allowed or banned in Pakistan to go to a church, but because it is not safe as they have been targeted many times. If you are Hindu, you cannot go to a temple as it is not safe. If you are Muslim, then your safety is still not guaranteed. No place is safe in this country and nobody is secure here, regardless of who you are or which religion you follow. The bomb blast in Balochistan on Shah Noorani shrine was because some people don’t want others to visit shrines. Is Pakistan really an independent country? The government must enlighten us by telling us where we can go in order to be safe.

Pakistan was made for everyone to be able to worship freely. Yet, this is the state of our freedom and independence — that we have to pay costs in the form of lives in order to go anywhere.
