The CPEC must be utilised in the best possible way
SKARDU: The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a gateway to benefit the social and economic well-being of the people of both, Pakistan and China. Initiated with a long-term vision, President Xi Jinping profoundly analysed the win-win conditions of this project’s outcome.
The project’s fast communication and transportation system will be significant towards strengthening the economy of Pakistan. On the energy front, Pakistan is facing a formidable challenge of energy shortage. Interrupted electric supplies and excessive breakdown of electricity go hand-in-hand, adding miseries to the commoner’s life. The continual shortfalls and tripping of electricity occur due to low availability of energy resources. If independent power producers are provided with mega projects, the deadlock of electricity can be resolved. Bunji Dam reservoir is one of the cases in point that has the capacity to provide 7,100 watts of electricity.
In the development sector, construction of an international airport, establishment of a hospital and upgradation of Gwadar Port are hallmarks of progress. Such initiatives will improve the living standards of the people of Balochistan and its territorial infrastructure. On the social front, crime will go down because with jobs, poverty will be eliminated, discouraging people from theft and robbery.
Through the process of such a mega project, the security and stability of Pakistan can be streamlined. It seems crystal clear that through this lifeline, Pakistan can be transformed into a fast emerging and developing country. Lastly, we must keep a strict eye on external factors involved in disturbing our internal stability and security. The CPEC must be utilised in the best possible way and no element should be glossed over for committing a mistake. A win-win approach is paramount to accomplish the desired goals.
