Malnutrition

Letter October 24, 2016
I urge the authorities to take urgent measures to set things right

TURBAT: On my way to the court in Turbat recently, I met two siblings in tattered clothes collecting material from a garbage dump. When I asked why, they innocently answered they regularly collect material and sell it for small amounts of money to buy food.

Shockingly, despite Pakistan being endowed with various natural food resources, many of its people suffer from  malnutrition. The major reason for the high malnutrition rate is attributed to considerable waste of food. It is shocking that in the 21st century children and adults from lower socioeconomic background are suffering from malnutrition. I urge the authorities to take urgent measures to set things right.
