Pink ball

Cricket is still widely watched by fans all over the world

KARACHI: Pakistan won the first day-night Test match against the West Indies in the United Arab Emirates, which was also the first day-night Test match held in Asia. In Australia and New Zealand, conditions for day-night test matches are perfect but the Asian climate has the dew factor and when the ball gets wet, it is difficult for the bowler to get the wicket as he has poor grip. Although the new pink ball has been introduced, many players have raised concerns about its durability as it didn’t hold up well for batting or fielding. Even lining up for high catches for fielders was a challenge as the visibility of the ball was poor. Instead of the pink ball, an orange ball should be used in day-night matches because orange is a more suitable colour.

Cricket is still widely watched by fans all over the world. The Pakistan Cricket Board should push for improving fans’ and players’ experience by introducing the correct kind of ball. In addition, more facilities should be provided, including cheaper tickets to games.
