LAHORE: A resolution demanding a farewell match for former skipper of the national cricket team, Shahid Afridi, was submitted on Monday in the Punjab Assembly by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The resolution submitted at the assembly’s secretariat by PTI legislator Saadia Sohail, states Afridi deserved a farewell match as he had been a source of pride for the entire nation for two decades. “Honourable nations always respect their heroes and appreciate their services for the country,” the resolution read.

The resolution comes amid a war of words between Afridi and cricket legend Javed Miandad over the issue of Afridi’s farewell match.

Accusatory remarks were exchanged between the two over the weekend. However, on Sunday, Afridi took to the social media to say that he regretted being impolite to a senior. “I regret what I said to a senior but of course I had to eventually react to his behavior,” read Afridi’s post on Twitter.
