Ban Indian movies, TV content

Letter September 30, 2016
Now is the time to stand as one country and decide our future and the future of our next generations

RAWALPINDI: Indian movies and dramas being screened in Pakistani cinemas and on private television channels directly or indirectly promote a negative image of Pakistan and anti-Pakistan sentiments. Gaddar, LoC, Dil Jalle, Sarfrosh, Border, Zameen, Bajrangi Bhaijan are a few titles to support my claim. The Pakistan government must move to ban the screening of Indian movies and dramas on account of the following points.

The revenue earned by India from screening of their films in Pakistan is, allegedly, indirectly used against innocent Kashmiris and Pakistani civilians through atrocious acts. The same money is allegedly used for destabilising Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan has, many a time, publicly alleged Indian involvement in such destabilisation attempts.

Secondly, it is a sort of a cultural invasion of Pakistan that most of our leaders don’t realise, or make light of it calling it art or entertainment. Thirdly, Indian films are a threat to local productions. They are adversely affecting the Pakistani film industry, producers and distributors.

Now is the time to stand as one country and decide our future and the future of our next generations. In view of the present situation, specifically, the brutalities by Indian forces against innocent Kashmiris in Indian-occupied Kashmir and the unprovoked killing of innocent Kashmiris in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistan government must ban the screening of Indian movies and dramas in Pakistan, along with all other Indian content and ensure its strict implementation.
