PM versus Obama

Letter September 30, 2016
The PM must use better sagacity when attending such high-level meetings

TURBAT: When President Barack Obama addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) recently, the assembly body was probably almost complete with about 99 per cent of the attendees. When Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif leaped in to speak at the UNGA, only Pakistani, Kashmir and our Indian counterparts attended it. What the PM missed was a golden chance to draw attention to a grave matter, but he merely mentioned the Kashmir issue, while some of the most crucial problems went unnoticed. The PM must use better sagacity when attending such high-level meetings to garner support not only for the country, but also for the persecuted Kashmiris.
