Alleged kidnapper with Rs0.4m bounty among them

KARACHI: Eight alleged criminals, including a kidnapper, were arrested during separate raids in different parts of the metropolis on Tuesday.

At least seven suspected criminals were apprehended during various raids in parts of District South, including Baghdadi, Kalakot, Kharadar and Kalri areas.

The suspects, Noman alias Kati, Feroz alias Ovais Dubai, Zahid alias Chuha, Munawar Ali, Amir alias Bona, Abdul Haseeb and Sameer alias Kodu, were wanted for various murders, attempts to murder, encounters, extortion and drug peddling while weapons and narcotics were also seized from their possession.

Their arrests were disclosed at a press conference by City SSP Faizullah Korejo at his office.

Separately, Anti-Violent Crime Cell of the Karachi police claimed to have arrested a kidnapper during a raid in Raees Goth.

The accused, identified as Mumtaz Mugheri, was arrested along with his accomplice, Sadiq Brohi. Their arrests were disclosed at a press conference by Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) chief DIG Dr Jamil Ahmed at his office. DIG Ahmed said that the accused has been involved in a number of cases of kidnapping for ransom in Karachi while the provincial government had also notified a Rs400, 000 bounty on his capture, alive or dead.
