LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Provincial Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed has called on August 22 a meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) provincial parliamentary party to discuss preparations for its accountability movement –Tehreek-i-Ehtisab.

The movement is scheduled to reach Jhelum next week.

The meeting, to be attended by party MPAs, will be held following the Provincial Assembly session on Monday. The participants will look into strategies for the campaign scheduled to reach Jhelum and Gujrat in the coming weeks followed by a march from Gujranwala to Lahore in the first week of September.

“It is time for holding the corrupt accountable. The opposition parties are united in demanding accountability,” Rasheed said.

He said if the prime minister and his family did not present themselves for accountability in view of the Panama Leaks controversy, the anti-government campaign would mount further pressure on them.

“The government will be in for a tough time on September 3,” he said. The party has announced a protest march to Lahore that day.

He also expressed reservations over the issue of kidnapping of children. He called for stringent legislation to check such incidents.
