RAWALPINDI: The police have reportedly taken four suspects into custody in connection with a series of knife attacks on women in Morgah. The suspects, whose identities are being kept secret by police investigators, are still being grilled, police sources said.

According to the sources, a police team headed by senior police officers including Potohar SP Muhammad Ateeque Tahir and Civil Lines Circle DSP Farhan Aslam took the suspects into custody based on information provided by locals and the victims’ families.

DSP Farhan Aslam confirmed the development, saying “We had detained four suspects based on information provided by locals or the victims”. He said that the suspects are being interrogated and that none of them had offered up a confession.

Morgah police raided a house and took into custody over 20 men who had been living in the same house. After questioning, the police let the other 16 men go.

On August 7, in the most recent knife attack, unidentified men killed a female nurse and wounded another. The police had received complaints about a string of knife attacks on the women in the area in the last five months.
