He maintained in his petition that an FIR lodged by the Badin police against him on July 28 was motivated by the SSP's personal grudge.
Khaskheli and two unknown persons were nominated in two FIRs at Model police station by Muneer Ahmed Mandhro, one of two police constables who were allegedly hit and injured by the judge's car. The police claimed that the judge's car was stopped for checking during which three bottles of liquor and bhang were found in the vehicles. The judge, while reacting angrily to the search, sped away breaking through the check post and hitting the policemen, they alleged.
The judge claimed, however, that his car, in which his son and nephew were traveling along with him, mistakenly struck the wooden pole at the check post. He said was returning from the residence of his brother, Muhammad Aslam Khaskheli, when the incident happened on the Badin-Tando Bago Road.
According to him, during their past postings in Umerkot district, SSP Pitafi and he developed hostility over police cases pertaining to obtaining physical remand of suspects.
"He used to threaten that he would teach me a lesson," Khaskheli claimed. The petitioner also pleaded the court provide him protection from the police and order the force to avoid any action against him and his family with regards to the FIRs until a decision is made regarding his petition.
The SHC, after hearing arguments of the petitioner's counsel, advocate Ghulamullah Chang, issued noticed for the Sindh home secretary, Hyderabad DIG, Badin SSP and other respondents for August 10.
