Eradicating polio

Letter July 29, 2016
The Punjab government is doing its best to protect the future generations of Pakistan from this infection

LAHORE: Pakistan is one of the few remaining countries in the world where polio is still categorised as an endemic viral infection. Hence, the initiation of a polio eradication campaign in the selected nine districts is a good step as these areas are considered to be at greater risk for polio virus transmission. The Punjab government is doing its best to protect the future generations of Pakistan from this infection through several rounds of vaccinations being carried out across the province. Since the provision of quality healthcare services to the people of Punjab is the topmost priority of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, no child anywhere in the province should suffer from this completely preventable disease.
