The government should take stern measures to stop targeted killings and violence

TURBAT: Targeted killings are not a new trend in our morally bankrupt society. It has contributed to an unstable security situation in Pakistan. Thousands of targeted killings have occurred, especially in Karachi, in the last few decades.

A recent major targeted killing was that of renowned qawwal Amjad Sabri on June 22 in broad daylight in an attack on his car by armed motorcyclists in Liaquatabad, Karachi. The prime suspect has been caught, but when will these murders end? The government should take stern measures to stop targeted killings and violence. Regrettably, present-day Pakistan is not what was envisioned by the Quaid-e-Azam. Sabri’s killers should be given deterrent punishment.
