Two-day Express Family Festival ends with fanfare

15 microwaves, 4 motorcycles, 7 water dispensers won in lucky draw

KARACHI: After offering people music, festivities, raffles and other fun events, the two-day family festival organised by the Express Media Group for the seventh time at the Karachi Expo Centre came to an end in Karachi on Sunday.

It set new records of popularity among people who belonged to all ages and groups. In the closing ceremony, singer Shehzad Roy and folk singer Shazia Khushk enthralled the large audience by showing their mettle with a variety of songs.

Taking advantage of pleasant weather, scores of families thronged the festival to enjoy food courts. Children enjoyed play area, singing competitions were held, games and lucky draws were held. “After attending every stall in the huge expo hall, we relaxed and picnicked outside,” said one visitor.

In raffles held during the festival, more than 15 people won microwaves and seven won water dispenser coolers. Four lucky people took home with them motorcycles that they won after the lucky draw.

People were of the view that the festival has become a kind of place where they got the much needed entertainment in a very secure environment. The Expo Centre administration has made elaborate security arrangements for this mega event.

The overall message was that the festival provided an escape for people who felt ground down by their day-to-day routine activity.
