Putting questions to the PM

Letter July 25, 2016
I suggest we also have a weekly question and answer session in our parliament with our prime minister

LAHORE: The British parliament holds a weekly session called the Prime Minister’s Questions in which the sitting prime minister takes questions on all governance matters relating to politics, the economy, and security, from both, opposition and treasury benches. It is nerve-wracking to imagine being questioned in a house full of lawmakers but it is amazing to see how eloquently the prime minister answers each and every question, which indicates his or her grasp on all matters concerning his or her country and the world. The prime minister does not know what questions are coming from lawmakers but he or she is always prepared to give satisfactory answers. These sessions with the sitting prime minister, which are telecast live, demonstrate that he or she accepts accountability and are proof of transparency in governance of the United Kingdom.

I suggest we also have a weekly question and answer session in our parliament with our prime minister, where he takes questions from lawmakers representing the people of entire country. Such a session will be very informative for the people of Pakistan and help bring transparency in governance, which is very important to strengthen democracy in Pakistan.
