Two BlackBerry cell phones belonging to assassinated former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto were handed over to the joint investigation team conducting an inquiry into her murder on Thursday.
According to initial reports, the caretaker of Bilawal House in Karachi handed over the phone sets to the investigation team.
The investigation team has sent the phones to a forensics laboratory.
According to Express 24/7, these cell phones were used by Benazir Bhutto on the day of her assassination.
Laboratory experts will analyse the data available in the two phones and will prepare a report to be handed over to the investigation team.
Earlier, investigation team managed to recover the cell phones of two leading suspects.
Prior to this, the suspects in the case SP Rawal Town, Superintendent Police Khurram Shehzad and former CPO Saud Aziz both refused to provide the cell phones they had used on the day of the assassination. Both suspects initially claimed that they had lost their sets, and later also reportedly provided the investigation team with fake phones.

Now? Wht were they waiting for?Recommend
And the caretaker of Bilawal House is a person not known to Mr. Zardari……….or is he?Recommend
Right! After they were tampered with and wiped clean.Recommend
There is nothing to come out from these sets however the record of the calls of police officers is very important.Recommend
@ Humayun. Good point. There was also a report on the Tribune website a few weeks back suggesting that the police officers mentioned above had her phones and the JIT was trying to get the phones from them.
What I don’t understand is what they expect to find on either Bibi’s or the police officer’s handsets. Its not like the handset would have recorded what was said. Nor will three year old handsets have any of the text messages left. Even if they did I doubt those text messages would contain any evidence to help this investigation.Recommend
Erm isn’t it ‘a bit’ late???Recommend
Why don’t they take call records and text messages records from concerned telecommunication companies. FIA should get all these records from relevant service providers if they are really interested to solve this mess……Recommend
One thing i don’t understand. How can we be sure that these two phones were owned by Benazir herself. And why were they in Bilawal house karachi while she was killed in Pindi.
Also, how do we know if these messages are authentic. Anybody could have tempered with the messages in 2 years while these phones were missing.
This phone story looks too insane to me.Recommend
Whoever held these phones committed a grave crime. This amounts to witholding or tampering with evidence!Recommend
