ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Hamid Ali Mirza on Wednesday said that door-to-door enumeration to prepare fresh electoral rolls will start in the country from May 2011.

He was chairing a meeting attended by Chief Census Commissioner Khizer Hayat Khan and Deputy Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Tariq Malik to evolve a strategy for preparing Electoral Rolls-2011 .

This is in the wake of the statistic division’s decision to increase the census block from 102,000 to 145,000 people.

The census organisation promised all possible assistance to the ECP for preparing electoral rolls and provision of the new demarcated census blocks  along with relevant maps. Electoral rolls in 2006-07 were prepared by the ECP on the basis of census blocks of 1998.
