Water crisis

Letter July 01, 2016
Karachi is very hot and such weather ultimately leads to the consumption of more water

KARACHI: Water is a basic necessity required by everyone everywhere, but in Pakistan the supply of water is not sufficient in proportion to people’s requirements. In other words, we can safely say that Pakistan is going through a water crisis. Levels of rainfall are relatively low in Pakistan but when it does rain there is no means of storing rainwater, something that can prove to be very useful. Karachi is very hot and such weather ultimately leads to the consumption of more water. In addition, there is little access to clean water, even for drinking purposes. On the other hand, bottled water is expensive and is not affordable for everybody. An insufficient water supply is the cause of many problems the country faces today.

I request the government to pay attention to the abovementioned problem. It must guarantee a healthy environment by taking positive action on public issues and needs. An early response in the case of water shortage will prove fruitful.
