Gloom envelops Thar

Letter July 01, 2016
The death rate continues to climb and the situation couldn’t get any worse

KARACHI: There has been a long and dry spell in the district of Tharparkar for the last three years. During this prolonged period of misery, hundreds of innocent children have lost their lives due to a shortage of basic needs of life such as water and food. The people have lost agricultural land due to a lack of rainfall.

Despite Tharparkar having a large population, the authorities concerned refuse to pay any heed to the dire situation. The death rate continues to climb and the situation couldn’t get any worse. The Sindh government needs to take this situation seriously before more lives are lost.
