KARACHI: A woman filed on Thursday a petition in the Sindh High Court against police for “releasing her son’s sketch identifying him as qawwal Amjad Sabri’s murderer”.

Hours after Sabri's killing in Liaquatabad area of Karachi on Wednesday, police had released a "70-percent" resembling sketch of the qawwal's suspected killer.

Hameeda Begum said her son went missing in 2014, following which she had also filed an information report at Clifton police station.

Police have issued the sketch to blame my son for the murder, Hameeda alleged.

The killing came two days after masked men kidnapped the son of Sindh’s top judge from outside a supermarket in broad daylight in an upscale locality of the city.

Sabri, 45, was travelling from his home to a television studio to attend an iftar transmission, when a motorcycle pulled up alongside his white coloured Honda Civic and the two riders opened fire, according to police.

Aisha | 7 years ago | Reply This is the reason why PPP is trying to disqualify Nawaz. Her son was a lost or missing person and drug addict whom she said she supplied funding for his substance abuse even. Her political capacity is she is a PPP politician and may get caught so to cover PPP is threatening.
Rehan | 7 years ago | Reply Aged 45?? Most of the media reported him as a 40 year old chap, kindly get the facts straight ! Also how did they manage to make a 70% sketch when no footage of the murder is available ? this could be police's tactic to punish an innocent just to get themselves out of hot water for not being vigilant enough !
