Noise pollution and health

Noise pollution is causing great damage to the health of people

KARACHI: I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the ever-increasing problem of noise pollution. While this is not a new issue, the aspect of health with regard to noise pollution has not been explored much. Noise pollution is causing great damage to the health of people, and exacerbating the health of those who already suffer from ill-health. High noise levels are harmful to both physical and mental health.

If this lurking issue is allowed to go unchecked, it could damage many individual’s hearing capacity. The increasing number of vehicles, horns and factories, construction work, and the use of loudspeakers on various occasions are all contributing factors. Noise control laws are openly violated. It is the time that authorities woke up and worked against the danger of noise pollution. They must take immediate and necessary action to protect people from the harmful effects of this menace.
