We have already sacrificed a great deal and paid a heavy price in this war against terror
RAWALPINDI: Recent clashes between security forces of Pakistan and Afghanistan at the Torkham border resulted in the death of one person, wounding 18 others, and displaced around 200 Pakistani families from their homes. Such kind of clashes always add fuel to fire, exacerbating the situation further. As of now, it’s no secret that we are experiencing strained relations with our neighbouring country. Before this clash, both sides agreed to a ceasefire, which bound both countries to follow it in letter and in spirit. So what was the reason behind this clash? Who can we blame this time around? Is it mistrust on the Afghan government’s side or is India using Afghanistan for its own hidden agenda to weaken Pakistan?
Both countries agreed to the construction of the gate at the Torkham border, then why is the Afghan government resisting it so much? The only reason I can think of is that it may want to disrupt the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb and undermine the successes of the Pakistan Army in the war against terror. The Afghanistan government should understand and recognise the sincere efforts of Pakistan as it has always supported them in their hour of need.
We have already sacrificed a great deal and paid a heavy price in this war against terror. Now the ball is in Afghanistan government’s court and it should know how to distinguish between friend and foe.
