MINGORA: At least six more universities will be established in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to strengthen the education sector.

This was said by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. He expressed these views during the groundbreaking ceremony of University of Swat in Charbagh on Sunday. The event was attended by MNAs, MPAs, teachers and students.

According to the chief minister, the provincial government will streamline the education sector so that it can yield positive changes for the people of K-P.

Khattak said the new varsity in Charbagh would prove to be “an educational milestone” for the next generation.

“Education brings development and prosperity and University of Swat will help the nation in this regard,” he said.

Khattak said the PTI-led government was deeply concerned about the quality of education.

“Six new universities, including a technical university, will be set up [to boost the education sector],” he added. According to the CM, an MoU had been signed with the government of Austria to provide students with the opportunity to learn a diverse menu of skills.

“Under the agreement, students will be sent to Austria to pursue higher education in applied sciences,” he added. Khattak directed the planning and development department to complete construction work at the university in Charbagh by the end of 2017.
