Rule violation : FAPUASA demand removal of medical university pro-VC

HYDERABAD: Pointing out violations of appointment rules, the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (Fapuasa) has demanded the removal of a pro-vice chancellor of a government medical university.

Dr Amanullah Jokhio was appointed as pro-VC of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Larkana, in September 2015. In a statement on Thursday, Fapuasa's central president Prof Naimatullah Leghari and Sindh chapter president Prof Arfana Mallah asserted that Dr Jokhio does not qualify for the post. They based their claim on a 2009 letter written by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Association (PMDC) about Dr Jokhio, as well as a recent letter by SMBBMU's deputy registrar to the Sindh chief minister.

According to the PMDC, Dr Jokhio is not even qualified to be appointed as an assistant professor in a medical university. His qualification is only MBBS from Liaquat Medical College in 1982 and a diploma in specialised surgery from Vienna, Austria in 1989. The May 3, 2016, letter of SMBBMU's deputy registrar also gives reference of the PMDC.
