Particle pollution

Letter May 02, 2016
I request the authorities to immediately spread awareness regarding particle pollution in the federal capital

ISLAMABAD: Like in many other cities, towns and villages, particle pollution and other forms of pollution have alarmingly increased in the federal capital.

Health experts are of the opinion that particle pollution can cause early death and heart attack, stroke and emergency room visits for people with asthma, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

A vast number of people suffer from all of the aforementioned ailments and the number of patients and the rates of death have shockingly increased in the famous Karachi Company, Melody, Aabpara, Sectors I-9 and I-10, Jinnah Super Market, Sitara Market and other sectors in Islamabad, which have become some of the most polluted areas.

The government and general public, however, continue to display an utter lack of concern for rising pollution levels in the city. I request the authorities concerned to take immediate action and spread awareness regarding the issue. If not now, then when?
